Chonburi holding international senior sports competition next year

CHONBURI is getting ready to host a senior sports competition for the third time next year with foreigners from all countries welcome to participate and some have already enrolled, INN News said today (Dec. 26).

Mr. Nuttawut Rueangwes chaired a meeting of the Senior Sports Management Committee on holding the third “Thailand Open Masters Games” which will take place during Feb 4-12, 2023.

This competition will be for 15 types of sports including athletics, badminton, basketball, bodybuilding, dancing, football, gateball, golf, petanque, sepak takraw, swimming, table tennis, tennis, woodball, stand up paddleboarding, bridge and karate with these taking place in Pattaya, Sriracha and Chonburi.

Senior athletes interested in participating in any of the sports contests should apply at https://m.facebook.com/Thailand-Open-Masters-Games-103285721288851/ by January 10.

Nuttawut said the third “Thailand Open Masters Games” is different from the first two as foreign athletes will be flying in to participate. This was not possible at events held the previous two years as the Covid-19 pandemic halted overseas travel.

“This time it will be a fully international competition because foreigners from many countries will be travelling here to join in so we have to be cautious in many aspects.

“Since the application was opened, people in many countries contacted us and many have already enrolled to compete in several sports. Asean competitors are from Malaysia and Singapore while from Asiawide India, but not China,” he said.

Nuttawut added that in the past lots of Chinese people travelled to Thailand but right now the country is still closed and it had to be seen whether any senior Chinese athletes would enrol by Jan. 10.
