THE CENTRAL Administration Court today (Dec. 28) ordered the suspension of the environmental impact assessment (EIA) approval granted to a high-rise condominium project in Ratchadapisek area after neighbours had filed a lawsuit over blocking of wind and sunlight, TV Channel 7 said.
Mr. Srisuwan Chanya, president of the Anti-Global Warming Association, said residents of Ratchadaphisek Soi 64,66 and 68 filed a lawsuit against the committee of specialists that had approved EIA for the 303.5-metre high project that blocks sunlight and wind in the neighbourhood on November 15, 2021.
In their lawsuit the plaintiff faulted the approval of the EIA report given on August 2, 2021, mentioning that it would disrupt their normal way of life with sunlight and wind blocked permanently with this being in violation of the community’s rights.
Court said it had temporarily suspended the release of this project’s EIA report until a judgement is passed because if the developer got the approval they would proceed with the construction right away and it would be difficult to remedy this later with demolition of a building taking some time and during this process the neighbours would suffer.
