PRIME MINISTER PRAYUT Chan-o-cha is scheduled to register himself as a member of the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party next Monday.
Prayut will be formally introduced as a Ruam Thai Sang Chart member at Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre next Monday, confirmed a partisan source today (Jan.4).
His partisan membership is largely expected to encourage a number of current and former MPs to jump onto the Ruam Thai Sang Chart bandwagon.
Those who may have intended to join the pro-Prayut party during a run-up to the next general election are scheduled to attend the planned, pompous event in support of the current premier, the partisan source said.
Prayut who has earlier confirmed to retain power for two more years as allowed by court after the general election will almost certainly be named by the Ruam Thai Sang Chart as sole partisan contestant for prime minister.
A number of electoral contenders to run for MP under the pro-Prayut party’s tickets reportedly include defectors from the largest and third-largest coalition partners Palang Pracharath and Democrat respectively.
The brand-new party’s electoral campaigns are reportedly focusing on some southern constituencies currently occupied by Palang Pracharath, Bhumjaithai and Democrat MPs, among others, who are seeking reelection to the House of Representatives early next year.
