Three ministers to welcome Chinese tourists arriving tomorrow

DEPUTY Prime Minister-cum-Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul together with Transport Minister Saksayam Chidchob and Tourism and Sports Minister Pipat Ratchakitprakarn will be going to Suvarnabhumi Airport tomorrow to welcome Chinese tourists arriving on the first flight to Thailand after Beijing began lifting its border restrictions today (Jan. 8) with the easing of its three year-long “zero Covid” policy, INN News said.

Ms. Trisulee Trisoranakul, deputy spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office, said at around 12.15 p.m. tomorrow the three ministers will be welcoming a total of 286 Chinese passengers arriving on flight MF833 from Xiamen.

After a reception the three ministers will give an interview to the media on the three ministries moving to set up a joint Tourist Help Centre to coordinate, track information, solve problems, as well as provide assistance to tourists in future.

They will also be inspecting various services at this airport as the number of arrivals will now be increasing. These include monitoring passport control procedure, resolving luggage delays and ensuring adequate public transport services.

This welcoming ceremony was agreed upon at a meeting in Government House on Jan. 5 presided over by Anutin on taking steps to prevent the spread of Covid-19 as more tourists come to the country. The meeting set guidelines on taking care of tourists so as to build confidence among the people about the tourism recovery drive.
