Three policemen escorting Chinese tourist transferred

THREE policemen seen providing police escort to a female Chinese tourist in a video that has gone viral in China have been transferred to the headquarters, Thai Rath newspaper said today (Jan. 22).

The tourist said in the video clip that everything is really for sale in Thailand including police escort from the airplane to the hotel for only 6,000 to 7,000 baht.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Archayon Kraithong, the police spokesman, said a committee probing this incident is expected to quickly wrap up the investigation.

Transferred were Pol. Capt. Sompol Phinyosamosorn, a deputy inspector of Tourist Police Division One’s Operation Division Three which is responsible for Suvarnabhumi Airport, and  Pol. Sgt. Thanakorn Nukulthanakit and Pol. Sgt. Thanawat Simakachonboon, attached to the Traffic Police Division.

It was also ascertained that the big bike that led the car taking the tourist from the airport to the hotel is not an official vehicle but a private one with sirens and flashing lights installed. The motorcycle does not have a police logo and carries a private licence plate.

Asked whether using a private vehicle for official work is  an offence, Pol. Maj. Gen. Archayon replied that it is a criminal offence if it has been modified.

That the Chinese woman was able to clear immigration process quickly was because she had obtained an E-visa and there were not many people going through the procedure at the time.
