AN ARMY SOLDIER and an army cadet were killed as a Scorpion light tank on which they had been mounted overturned in Lopburi today (Feb.14).
The army soldier, identified as Sgt.Maj Sa-nga Joitho, and the army cadet, identified as Puvanai Kamlangdee, were pronounced dead after they had been rushed to a hospital following the accident in the woods of the central province.
The soldier who drove the Scorpion light tank was reported safe.
The British-built light tank swerved and overturned at a sharp curve as it was apparently steering away from a possible collision with an army truck coming in the other direction, causing the fatal mishap.
The Bangkok-based Second Cavalry Division was conducting an exercise in which the deceased had participated with the light tank, among other weapon systems.
