A MYANMAR woman was stabbed five times in front of a well-known department store in Pratunam area at noon today (Mar. 9) and later died at the hospital, Matichon newspaper said.
Pol. Capt. Siwa Klabphan, deputy chief of Phayathai police station, rushed to the scene of crime together with forensic officers, a pathologist from Ramathibodi Hospital and Ruamkatanyu Foundation rescuers.
There they found Ms. Phyu Mar Aung, 34, a Myanmar national, lying in a pool of blood at a tented clothing stall in front of the store with stab wounds on her torso, arm and back.
By then a team from Phramongkutklao Hospital had arrived and they gave her cardiopulmonary resuscitation for 30 minutes then rushed her to the hospital but she later succumbed to her wounds and died.
Police arrested her attacker, identified as Mr. Thet Lin Oo and also from Myanmar, and he was taken to Phayathai police station.
The suspect told police that the two of them ran a fruit stall nearby for the same employer. He claimed that the victim had reported to their employer that he was also running another stall a hundred metres away, was not diligent and hooked on his mobile phone which angered him and led to him stabbing her with a three-inch knife.
He had tried to escape but was caught by police.
