SAM MIT GROUP leaders Somsak Thepsuthin and Suriya Juangroongruangkit will very shortly leave the Palang Pracharath for Pheu Thai, partisan sources said today (Mar.14).
Somsak and Suriya will be the last MPs among members of Sam Mit faction to skip over from the ruling party headed by Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan to the Pheu Thai under whose tickets they will seek re-election in party-listed mode, the partisan sources said.
Somsak and Suriya will resign very shortly as justice minister and industry minister respectively so they could mingle with all 400 Pheu Thai contestants vying for MP in constituency-based mode during a formal introduction to the public on the upcoming Friday, they said.
Nearly all MPs under control of Somsak and Suriya have already defected from Prawit’s camp to the Pheu Thai where the partisan rank and file remain loyal to former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra.
Nevertheless, Prime Minister’s Office Minister Anucha Nakhasai of Sam Mit group has earlier departed from the Palang Pracharath to the Ruam Thai Sang Chart which is endorsing Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha’s design to retain power after an upcoming general election.
Somsak earlier remarked that his clique ultimately preferred to remain as part of a post-election government no matter who could possibly become prime minister.
Sam Mit group which commands several MPs in upper-central constituencies had earlier belonged to the Pheu Thai until they defected to the Palang Pracharath in the 2019 election.
