Ex-ranger kills three in indiscriminate shooting from house


A FORMER ranger is firing shots indiscriminately from his house in Phetchaburi province this afternoon (Mar. 22) with three people killed and two injured so far as police gear up to storm the house and capture him, Naewna newspaper said.

The gunman, identified as Mr. Anuwat, 29, who had previously been arrested on drug charges, was still firing shots intermittently from his house at a housing estate in Mueang district.

Over a hundred provincial Special Operation policemen have laid siege to the house and are negotiating with the gunman to surrender. They are unable to move in yet because he is firing non-stop into the garden.

Preliminary investigation reveals that he is stressed out about having to go to court on drug charges today.

Pol. Lt. Kanoksak Mutthakan, head of Ton Mamuang Subdistrict Administrative Organization, was shot in the temple when he came with a police team to stop the shooting and was rushed to the hospital.

A motorcycle rider and one of the residents of this housing estate are lying dead in front of the house after being shot by the gunman.

Police had quickly moved around 30 students who had come to a nearby house for tuition to safety.
