The highly-revered Phra Phuttha Sihing Buddha image is being brought to the square from Bangkok National Museum for the public to pay homage and also give alms.

The Rod Nam Dum Hua ceremony whereby people pour scented water onto elders’ palms and ask for their blessings will also take place. Moreover there will be a demonstration of Thai culture and tradition and celebrating this festival the Thai way.

Traditional Thai Songkran celebration will also take place at Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem while a location will be fixed at all 50 districts for people to go and splash water with a map to be put out showing where they are.

Bangkok Metropolitan Authority will coordinate with Metropolitan police to maintain security during the festival while it will itself take care of orderliness ensuring a ban on sale and consumption of alcohol, using high-pressure water guns, smearing powder and wearing revealing clothes is upheld.
