Songkran Festival death toll drops by 5%

 

DEPUTY Interior Minister Naris Khamnurak said this morning (Apr. 18) that the death toll from road accidents during Songkran Festival’s “seven dangerous days”, April 11-17, 2023, dropped by 5% year-on-year, Thai Post newspaper said.

However, while the number of accidents had increased the situation had returned to normal today, he added.

Latest statistics show that there were 2,203 road accidents, an increase of 286 from 2022, altogether 2,208 people got injured, up 339 from 2022, while 264 died, 14 fewer than in 2022.
