POLICE are tracking down a Polish man who is likely heading for the Thai-Cambodian border after his Ukrainian girlfriend was found dead in a Bangkok condo this afternoon (May 15), TV Channel 7 said this evening.
The body of the unidentified 27-year-old Ukrainian woman was found in a condo at Charoen Rat road, Bang Khlo subdistrict, Bang Kho Laem district, with sharp wounds on the neck and shoulder and left wrist cut off. A saw was found next to her body.
The condo management told police that the deceased woman and her 25-year-old Polish boyfriend had come to Thailand on a holiday and rented this unit on April 29, 2023.
This afternoon the Polish man called a taxi to pick him up at the condo. However the taxi driver noticed that he looked suspicious, being in an unusually big hurry, so he mentioned his observation to the guard and told him to wait.
However the Polish man would not wait and told the cabbie to drive out right away.
Upon being informed by the guard the condo manager contacted the unit owner to open it with a spare key and immediately called the police when they found the dead woman.
Police investigators from Wat Phraya Krai station said they had identified the cabbie through the surveillance camera clip and also found out that he had been hired by the Polish man to drive him to the border for 1,500 baht.
Police are trying to find the cabbie to question him while chasing the Polish man who is believed to be heading for Sa Kaeo province bordering Cambodia.
