THE TEN Thai movie companies that participated in the Marche du Film – Cannes Film Festival 2023 held at the French Riviera city of Cannes during May 16-24 participated in 271 trade negotiations with the value of the discussed deals being 1.986 billion baht, Matichon newspaper said today (June 5).
Mr. Phusit Rattanakul Sereereungrit, head of the Department of International Trade Promotion, said the atmosphere at the glamorous film festival was really lively with dignitaries and businessmen from across the world attending the event. This year’s glitzy crowd totalled 14,000 people from 120 countries worldwide.
Among the representatives of foreign companies who held talks with their Thai counterparts were executives of M Pictures Co., Ltd. which is interested in buying more than 20 movies for both streaming on its platform and cinema screening in Poland, Vietnam and China.
In addition, companies from the US, France, Germany and Russia are interested in shooting movies in Thailand under the country’s film incentive measures.
“It is worth noting that Thai content is receiving good response on the international stage every year, especially in terms of film and video-related services (production & post production services), which are increasingly accepted by new trading partners.
“Moreover Thai entrepreneurs’ continual participation in trade negotiations at foreign film festivals will enhance the competitiveness of the film industry and related services in the global market,” he said.
