Manager kills self after owner files theft charge

THE STRESSED OUT manager of a window film installation shop shot himself dead in front of the business premises after the owner filed a theft charge against him, Sanook.com said this afternoon (June 25).

Pol. Maj. Wirasak Phiphit, an investigator at  Bang Khun Thian police station, rushed to the shop on Bang Bon 2 road upon being informed of a suicide taking place there accompanied by paramedics from Siriraj Hospital and Poh Teck Tung Foundation rescuers.

At the scene they found the body of Mr. Thonkrit (surname withheld), 43, lying in a pool of blood in front of the shop after having shot himself in the right temple with a 9mm Smith and Wesson pistol that he was still holding in his hand.

A colleague told police their manager who had run this business for several years had shot himself to escape wrongdoing after the owner, with whom he was very close, filed a theft charge against him last Monday June 19 as millions had disappeared from the business.

It is likely he was stressed out and shot himself dead in front of the shop which was closed today, he added.

A police team went through a surveillance camera clip which showed that after Thonkrit drove up to the front of the shop in his personal vehicle he got and shouted and cursed the owner via the camera clip and then pulled out his pistol and shot himself dead.

The shop’s owner, who is holidaying in Kanchanaburi today with his family, is now returning to Bangkok to testify to the police while the deceased man’s body was taken to an autopsy with his family to perform a funeral after that.
