Padipat tipped to anticipate ‘technical ouster’ from Move Forward

By Thai Newsroom Reporters

DEPUTY HOUSE SPEAKER Padipat Santipada will likely hold onto the second highest post in the legislative branch whilst anticipating a “technical ouster” of himself from his current party, the Move Forward, a partisan source said over the weekend.

The Move Forward MP of Phitsanulok who is yet to choose whether to leave the deputy House speaker seat or to hold onto it and be “technically ousted” from the largest opposition party will likely opt out for the latter, the source said.

Padipat is more or less speculated to join either the Thai Sang Thai or Fair Party in a 30-day time as provided by the constitution after he is “technically dismissed” from his current camp in relation to the imminent naming of a new Move Forward leader who will perform as opposition leader in concurrent fashion.

The military-designed charter prohibits an opposition leader from being attached to any party which may concurrently assume cabinet seats or the House Speaker seat or Deputy House Speaker seats.

A new Move Forward executive board which is yet to be set up later this month would almost certainly “technically oust” Padipat from the opposition party if he eventually declined to quit as deputy House speaker.

An extraordinary Move Forward caucus is scheduled for Sep.23 for partisan members to pick a new party leader alongside the naming of members of the party’s new executive board following Friday’s resignation of Pita Limjaroenrat as Move Forward leader.

Being currently suspended by court from performing duties of an elected lawmaker, Pita was practically forced to quit the partisan leadership to give way for the naming of a fellow Move Forward MP in his place.
