By Thai Newsroom Reporters

PEOPLE HAVE BEEN FOUND to be roughly equally divided over the planned extension of opening hours for all entertainment venues nationwide, according to the latest NIDA Poll.

The poll, recently conducted with a total of 1,310 people from all walks of life in all regions of the country, has found 41.7% of the respondents say entertainment venues should open until 2.00 a.m. as currently legally allowed.

That compared to 41.1% of the respondents who say entertainment places should legally open until 4.00 a.m. as planned by the Pheu Thai-led government.

Of those respondents found by the NIDA Poll to advocate the extended hours for entertainment venues, 23.6% say those places which might open until 4.00 a.m. should only be categorized as tourist spots and nowhere else whilst 17.5% say they all should indiscriminately open until 4.00 a.m., no matter whether they may be officially considered tourist spots or not.

Most who endorse the entertainment venues’ extended hours until 4.00 a.m. on grounds that they may help promote tourism industry and create jobs for those making a living with it whilst those who prefer the current limit at 2.00 a.m. say those places should only be allowed to minimally disturb residents nearby at night, according to the poll.
