Suspect nabbed in killing of teacher, freshman

POLICE have arrested one of five suspects wanted in the killing of a teacher and a student on Sunthorn Kosa road, Khlong Toei district, on Nov. 11, Naewna newspaper said this afternoon (Nov. 22).

Two youths rode up on a motorcycle then one of them fired shots at Rajamangala University of Technology Tawan-Ok Uthen Thawai Campus students with a stray bullet killing Sacred Heart Convent School computer science teacher, Ms. Sirada Sinprasert, 45, while pumping several shots at a 19-year-old freshman, only identified as Nong Yot, who later died at the hospital.

A Metropolitan Police Investigation Division police team said they spent 10 days tracing the two youths’ escape route and after collecting evidence asked the court to issue arrest warrants for five suspects and also search warrants to check six locations in Bangkok and adjacent Nonthaburi and Pathum Thani provinces.

They were able to arrest one of the five suspects and also rounded up six of his friends for questioning.

Moreover a suspect in the shooting of another student of Uthen Thawi campus last February too has been arrested.

However the police team said the person arrested today is not the one who killed the teacher and the freshman but he is suspected of having planned the attack.

Pol. Gen. Thiti Saengsawang, commander of Metropolitan Police Bureau, and Pol. Maj. Gen. Theeradej Thamsuthee, commander of Metropolitan Police Investigation Division, are currently interrogating all seven of them separately.
