Makro cooperating with DSI in contraband pork probe

 

THE MANAGEMENT of Makro cash & carry stores said today (Nov. 27) they were cooperating with the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) which is investigating the smuggling and distribution of contraband pork, Matichon newspaper said.

A DSI team visited Makro’s head office and were given full details on the process of purchasing pork, product inspection procedure with all documents showing legal purchase of the meat submitted, Makro’s management said in a press release.

A team from the Livestock Development and Internal Trade departments accompanied by provincial public health officials visited Makro’s distribution centres at Mahachai, Samut Sakhon, and Wang Noi, Ayutthaya, on Nov. 15 and 21 for an inspection and found that all the pork and pork liver there were safe, of standard quality with traceable sources, they said.
