Dozen online gambling operators nabbed in Chiang Mai

A DOZEN SUSPECTED ONLINE gambling operators were today (Jan.13) rounded up at a cosy den in Chiang Mai, police said.

In a police raid on the rented house in Mae Rim district of the northern province, the 12 young suspects, male and female, were arrested on charge of running the online gambling business preying on a large number of customers, mostly believed to be adolescents, via hengclub.win and kapaotang.com websites.

Dozens of computers, cellphones, bank books and ATM cards allegedly used by the suspected gambling racket were seized whilst an estimated 100 million baht in cash for online gambling and games was estimated to illicitly circulate monthly, the police said.

However, a suspected employer of those online gambling operators was not identified and yet remains at large.
