TWO FOREIGN MEN, one from the UK and the other Sweden, died upon falling from separate Pattaya hotels last night, Naewna newspaper said today (Feb. 4).
At 2.06 a.m. Pol. Lt. Anirut Je-hero, an inspector at Pattaya City police station, was alerted of a foreigner falling from a hotel in Soi Buakhao, Pattaya Klang, Nong Prue subdistrict, Bang Lamung district, Chonburi, and quickly went there together with Sawang Boriboon Dhamma Sathan rescuers.
At the scene, he found Mr. Martin Upton, 69, a Briton, lying on the ground floor moaning in pain after falling from room number 408 on the fourth floor. He was quickly taken to the hospital but later died.
Ms. Waew, who witnessed the incident, said she was lying in her room but then heard someone fall and quickly took her torch to go and have a look and upon seeing him badly injured called the police.
Pol. Lt. Anirut said although there were no signs that the injured man who later died had been assaulted it could not as yet be concluded whether it was suicide or an accident.
A little later he was informed by a security guard that a Swedish swimming instructor had died after falling from another hotel at Pattaya Sai 3 road, so again rushed there with the rescuers to investigate.
At the scene they found Mr. Jack Imgemar Reffhood, 60, had died upon falling from room number 309 on the third floor which is about 15 metres from the ground.
The security guard, Mr. Nantaphob Luakthaisong, 25, said he was sitting within the hotel compound talking to someone when he noticed a dark shadow come down from the third floor. As he suspected someone might have fallen he went to have a look and was startled to find the deceased man lying in a pool of blood and quickly called the police.
Pol. Lt. Anirut said he inspected the deceased man’s room in detail but there were no signs of struggle. Again it could not as yet be concluded whether it was an accident or suicide with surveillance camera clips to be examined.
