THE PHEU THAI, core of the current coalition government, was today (May 1) suggested to stop pressing House Speaker Wan Muhamad Noor Matha to step down so he could otherwise be replaced by a Pheu Thai MP.
Without elaborating or naming names, Mook Sulaiman, secretary to Wan Noor, advised that the largest ruling party no longer mount pressure upon the Prachachart-attached House speaker in a desperate effort to see him resign and be replaced in near future
Mook commented Wan Noor would simply have no justifiable reason to call it quits in the first place and that he had already intended to serve out the four-year term of the legislative branch.
He was apparently responding to speculation that the Pheu Thai under de facto party boss-cum-convict on parole Thaksin Shinawatra had looked to take the House Speaker seat from Wan Noor and give it to Chonlanan Srikaew who was recently reshuffled out as Pheu Thai-attached public health minister in a new cabinet lineup.
Nonetheless, members of the Pheu Thai rank and file had jumped to the unilateral conclusion that the highest position in the legislative branch should only belong to the biggest coalition partner being their own camp whilst the Prachachart merely ranks sixth among all coalition partners, given a relatively small number of MPs attached to Wan Noor’s party.
