A YOUNG man bought a pair of sandals from a department store in Thailand after trying them on and ensuring they fit fine but on the way back home they were exposed to current extremely hot weather at the back of his pickup truck and once home to his surprise they had shrunk from size 44 to size 36, Amarin TV said today (May 2).
TikTok user who goes by the name g_too_ntp posted a video clip with the following message: “The sun in Thailand is really scary.”
In the clip he said when he bought this pair of sandals at a department store it was size 44 but the extremely hot weather in Thailand led to them shrinking to size 36. He tried putting them on but they do not now fit.
Yesterday this TV channel’s reporters went to the house of this young man, whose real name is Mr. Nattaphon Phutthasongkran, 29, and there they saw that the blue sandals had noticeably shrunk and become smaller.
In front of them he tried putting them on but they no longer fit.
He mentioned that after posting the clip some people had commented that they too had encountered this sort of shrinking of footwear.
He urged shoe manufacturers to put a warning that their shoes and sandals should not be exposed to the hot sun as they could shrink.
Asked whether he would like exchange this pair of sandals for a new one, he said he didn’t dare do that but would like this incident to be a warning to others not to put new pair of shoes or sandals out in the sun.
