A BUNCH of electrical and communication cables caught fire in an alley within Saha Group Industrial Park in Sri Racha district, Chonburi, today (May 12) with a video clip taken by a resident showing that it was a squirrel that sparked the blaze, Naewna newspaper said.
The video clip of the fire racing along the cable lines showed that a squirrel had climbed up the pole and triggered a short circuit which set off the fire.
Local resident quickly called the Fire Department as they feared if it continued racing down the cable lines it would be difficult to control. However firemen were able to quickly put it out.
Even so the blaze led to a power outage in the entire Soi Bo Yang alley with officials cutting the flow to ensure safety before inspection and repair could take place.
