CYBER Crime police raided five places used to run an online gambling website with a billion baht monthly turnover and seized nearly 24 million baht in cash, Amarin TV and Naewna newspaper said today (May 18).
Pol. Lt. Gen. Worawat Watnakhonbuncha, head of the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau, said operation “Hang Up” had targeted whanjeab777a.com gambling website which has 40,000 members.
After collecting sufficient evidence the police team and obtained arrest warrants for nine suspects and nabbed three of them in raids on five places as follows:
– A luxury condo in Ratchadapisek area where Mr. Chindanay, 28, a financial manager was arrested;
– Another luxury condo in the same area where Mr. Suthichai, 28, who likewise is a financial manager was arrested;
– A house in Ayutthaya where Ms. Nongluk, 49, was arrested with her duty being to withdraw money from various ATMs;
– A third luxury condo in Ratchadapisek area;
– A fourth luxury condo in Ratchadapisek area.
Seized in the five raids are the following items:
– Cash totaling 23,991,500 baht;
– A BMW X3 SUV;
– Two Ford Ranger pick-up trucks;
– A desktop computer;
– 2,341 bank account books
– 1,779 electronic cash cards
– 1 tablet
– 46 mobile phones
The total value of the seized items is over 30 million baht.
