By Thai Newsroom Reporters

SAKULTHORN JUANGROONGRUANGKIT, brother of Progressive Movement leader Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit, was today (May 20) handed a six-month jail sentence due to attempted bribery charges.

The Criminal Court ruled Sakulthorn, CEO of Real Asset Development Co., was guilty of offering 20 million baht in kickback cash to government officials and brokers in exchange for lease contracts on posh land owned by the Crown Property Bureau in Chidlom and Soi Ruam Ruedee areas of Bangkok.

No suspension to the jail sentence for Sakulthorn was granted by court whilst the real estate businessman-turned-convict has opted to proceed to the Appeals Court at a later date and bail himself out at the moment.

The Criminal Court handling misconduct and corruption lawsuits originally delivered an eight-month jail term which was finally curtailed to six months, given useful testimonies provided by the defendant during court trials.

Sakulthorn, the younger brother of the former leader of the court-dissolved Future Forward, was found to possess ownership and run management of a dozen more firms dealing in varied businesses combinedly worth about eight billion baht.
