Emergency room worker plays mobile game while checking sick child

A COMPLAINT was filed to the operators of a community Facebook page that a Sakon Nakhon hospital emergency room staff member was playing a mobile game while checking a sick child brought there for medical treatment after vomiting blood, TV Channel 7 said this morning (June 6).

The mother and aunt of the sick child told Sai Mai Tong Rod (Sai Mai District Must Survive) team that at 11 p.m. on Tuesday night (June 4) they had quickly taken the sick child to this hospital for treatment.

As the mother frequently takes photos of her child, she went to the spot where the checkup was being conducted and saw the staff member playing a mobile game while measuring her blood pressure and asking her about the details of her illness.

They pointed out that this service is a matter of life and death and it is not appropriate to blatantly bring a mobile device to the emergency room and play a game while checking a patient.

They wanted this page to amplify the behaviour of some emergency room staff so that hospitals become aware of it and take steps to improve the service.

They also want the Public Health Ministry to take action on this serious issue.
