A LIGHT SPORT AIRPLANE crashlanded onto the rooftop of a house, instantly killing the pilot in Samut Sakhon today (Aug. 3), police said.
The CH-601 turboprop, two-seater light airplane suddenly lost altitude and rammed into the roof of the resort house in Khok Kham subdistrict of the capital district of Samut Sakhon, the police said.
The trainer pilot, identified as Pudit Supawatanakul, 33, was reportedly killed at the scene with his body falling from the cockpit onto the ground. No co-pilot or passenger was found aboard at the time of the mishap.
Nearly all parts of the airplane were burned up except for the broken left wing dangling on the roof.
Investigating police officers are yet to determine the cause of the crashland of the light sport airplane which had taken off from a nearby golf course for about half an hour, the police said.
However, mid-air engine troubles of the aircraft which had not been used for the last three years were initially suspected as the primary cause of the mishap.
