A DUTCHMAN who is a former soldier was arrested in Pattaya after initially caught with a small amount of crystal methamphetamine (Ice) in his possession but a search of his condo uncovered equipment and chemicals to produce sex pills, Thai Rath newspaper said this morning.
The suspect, Mr. Simon Leonardus Petrus Scherps, 63, was first arrested when policemen patrolling this seaside city searched him as he looked suspicious and found that he was carrying two packets containing 0.5 grammes of Ice.
A police team then searched his condo in downtown Pattaya and found drug production equipment and chemicals including a 5kg picnic gas stove and a metal grate, a stainless steel bowl, a test tube, four gallons of a liquid in a plastic container, some sodium hydroxide, some Viagra pills, digital scales, ziplock plastic bags, unwrapped jelly candy stored in packets as well as 120 euros and 56,500 baht in cash.
Simon admitted to taking Ice that police had found on him and regarding the paraphernalia found in his condo he said that he was experimenting with producing a sex pill by mixing and boiling various substances according to a recipe he had obtained but as yet did not dare to give it to anyone.
Pattaya police detained the suspect and seized all the paraphernalia for further investigation on producing sex pills and narcotics. He has been charged with possession of category one drug, Ice, with additional charges to be filed if found to have violated other laws.
