Public cash donation for People’s Party amounts to 4.5 million baht in four hours

By Thai Newsroom Reporters

AN AVALANCHE OF MORE THAN 4.5 million baht in cash has been donated in a short period of four hours today (Aug. 9) by members of the public for the People’s Party.

About 7,700 people have so far donated a combined 4.5 million baht in cash for the People’s, a resurrection of the court-dissolved Move Forward, where all 143 MPs, previously attached to the reformist camp, have already registered themselves as partisan members to maintain their MP status.

Today marked the first day of the People’s plea to the public to grant cash to the brand-new party with a total of 10 million baht in cash donation earlier targeted within a one-month time.

So far, the record cash donation for the People’s reportedly amounted to 4.5 million baht only in four hours whilst much more was expected in later hours today, given the likelihood of the avalanche grants totaling 10 million baht in a single day.

People’s leader Natthapong Ruengpanyawut said a minimum of 100,000 people were targeted to be registered as partisan members within a one-month time as well.

The People’s will definitely pursue the Move Forward’s political ideologies and flagship policies and decidedly set an ultimate goal to turn themselves into the largest elected party in the next general election with more than half the total 500 MPs to set up a one-party government of their own.
