ROYALISTS filed lese majeste charges against Warner Music Thailand for doctoring a photo of nine Constitutional Court judges with portraits of Their Majesties King Rama IX and King Rama X in the background edited and hidden to promote Charli XCX’s song “The Apple’s Rotten Right to the Core”, Amarin TV said tonight (Aug. 13).
Warner Music Thailand posted the doctored photo on its Facebook page on Aug. 9 with this coming soon after the Move Forward Party was dissolved at the order of this court on Aug. 7 for violating the lese majeste law by openly making campaign-promised moves deemed by the court as tantamount to undermining rule of the country.
Mr. Anon Klinkaew, leader of People’s Centre to Protect the Monarchy, filed charges of violating Section 112 of the Criminal Code, or the lese majeste law, and Section 14(3) of Computer Crimes Act against the music company at the Central Investigation Bureau this morning.
Anon said Warner Music Thailand had placed green apples on the faces of the nine judges and also edited to hide the portraits of Their Majesties King Rama IX and King X in the background.
Anon said apologising as the music company has done is one issue with a possible lawsuit being another and he has submitted evidence including an apology posted by the music company for the police to consider whether it has violated these laws.
Pol. Lt. Col. Chotipit Rujiranini, the investigation officer, received this complaint and will be forwarding it to senior officers to consider.
Meanwhile at 10 a.m. tomorrow Mr. Sonthiya Sawatdee will be going to the Metropolitan Police to request an investigation of musician Aed Carabao and Warner Music Thailand on allegations of violating the Computer Crimes Act and Section 112 of the Criminal Code as well as contempt of judicial work.
