EIGHT members of a South Korean call centre gang who were scamming victims from a luxury condo in Ekamai Soi 3 were rounded up in a raid mounted by Immigration Police today (Aug. 22).
Under the direction of Immigration Bureau chief Pol. Lt. Gen. Ittipol Itthisarnronnachai a police team raided this luxury condo on the fourth floor of the building after being tipped off that this flat, where Koreans regularly come and go, was being used to either run a gambling website or a call centre scam.
Upon reaching the flat police saw a sign in English on the doorway saying “Content Factory Korea & Thai”.
Within were two rooms with there being eight desktop computers in the smaller room in front and 12 in the bigger room at the rear. Each computer had two monitors. Also found there were 17 mobile phones and two iPads.
They found Mr. Jae Suk and seven other South Koreans working there with their tactic being to persuade their victims to invest in South Korean bank Hana Partners Investment by logging into https://hanapartners.net/login which is fake website of this bank and those doing so losing all their money.
The suspects admitted that they had been hired to persuade people to invest at this website and were paid a commission for the total investment they pulled in.
The Immigration Police team has filed charges of working in Thailand without a permit against all eight suspects and have contacted South Korean police for further investigation.
