A LARGE-SCALE search operation has been launched in northern Mae Hong Son province for a young Belgian woman tourist who mysteriously disappeared yesterday (Sep. 6), Naewna newspaper said this morning.
Pol. Lt. Col. Suwit Bunyapeng, Tourist Police inspector at this province, said he received a report yesterday that the female tourist, Ms. Cloe Ferari, 28, had disappeared from her accommodation with her bicycle.
His police team joined forces with another police team from Pai police station, Pai district administration officials,Pai Samakkhi Rescue volunteers, a Pai Enduro team and soldiers from the 7th Infantry Regiment in tracking down the missing tourist.
Yesterday afternoon someone found a bicycle abandoned at the entrance of Mae Yen waterfall in Pai district with the search team then trekking there in heavy rain and flash floods to search for her as it was impossible for cars to reach this area.
However the team had to stop the search at 10.15 p.m. last night but will resume doing so this morning.
