THE father of a Russian woman who was swept into the sea by huge waves and drowned from a viewpoint at Koh Samui last week performed funeral rites for his daughter yesterday (Dec. 4) kissing her coffin and photo for the last time, Naewna newspaper and TV Channel 7 said.
Mr. Evgenii Beliatsrii, the father of Ms. Kamilla Beliatskaia, who was pulled into the sea from Lad Koh Samui viewpoint, Bo Phut subdistrict, on Nov. 29 with her body found at Chaweng Noi beach in the same subdistrict on Dec. 1 met police but did not raise by suspicion about her death.
He collected his daughter’s belongings including a necklace, a watch, a tennis racket, a swimming board and some clothes.
Beliatsrii, together with his daughter’s unidentified boyfriend, then went to Koh Samui Hospital for the autopsy results after which took his daughter’s body for cremation at Wat Mai Sri Thaweep on the island. He had asked for privacy not permitting officials to join in and kissed her coffin and photo as a final farewell.
He was to perform an ash floating ceremony at 8 a.m. today.
His daughter was a yoga influencer who was holidaying here with her boyfriend and his family. The two of them were to return to Russia to get married in the middle of this month but the tragic accident halted their plans.
