THREE Thai women who were among a 100 trapped at a human egg farm in Georgia being given hormones for extraction of their ova for sale to third countries were rescued with the help of Interpol and it is feared the Chinese Mafia gang could be after the unborn babies’ stem cells and organs and they may never survive, TV Channel 7 said today (Feb. 3).
Ms. Paveena Hongsakul, president of the Paveena Hongsakul Foundation for Children and Women, said she got in touch with the Interpol after one woman, who was tricked by the Chinese Mafia to go to Georgia for surrogacy in return for a large payment refused to give her ova and was freed after her relatives paid 70,000 baht ransom, asked her to help three of her friends still trapped there.
After rescuing the three women Interpol housed them in a temporary shelter with the Paveena Foundation then sending air tickets for them to fly home, landing here on Jan.30 and they are now under this agency’s care.
However there are a hundred more Thai women to be rescued.
Paveena said that the Chinese human trafficking gang had collaborated with Thais in deceiving their victims. They were told that surrogacy is legal in Georgia and they would get 400,000 to 600,000 baht for carrying a baby to term for foreign couples having difficulty in having children. They were told they would be taken good care of and eat well while earning good money.
However once there they were forced to sell their eggs for reproduction which were extracted every month as if they were not human.
Paveena asked the Thai government to coordinate with the Chinese government in investigating and breaking up the human trafficking routes that the Chinese Mafia who have infiltrated into Thailand use.
Ms. Na (pseudonym), who was ransomed and returned to Thailand, said she previously worked as a saleswoman but was looking for a sideline to help her husband clear debts when she came across a Facebook page that said “work available for women, income 400,000-600,000 baht” so she contacted them.
On August 30 she was one of 10 Thai women who flew to Dubai accompanied by a woman and a guide. They then changed planes and flew to Armenia and after that by train to Georgia. After staying one night at a hotel where their passports were seized they were taken to a big house with there being four smaller houses in the same compound.
In this big house there were around 60 Thai women, in the others around 10 each and they were all in poor condition desperate to return home but not having money to pay the ransom thus forced to agree to having their ova extracted.
