THE LABOUR Ministry has joined hands with an association in France to promote traditional Thai massage there as it has now become very popular among the French with there being jobs for a hundred Thais will massage skills and trainers available.
Mr. Karom Polpornklang, deputy government spokesperson, said talks were held with Association Française Nuad Thai & Spa (AFNTS) on sending the required skilled masseuses and trainers to work in France
Working as a massage therapist in France requires strict compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Although France does not have a specific massage licence, having a certificate of labour standards from Thailand or passing an accepted training will be beneficial to workers.
As for the salary of masseuses, this starts at 1,824 euros or approximately 64,000 baht, excluding tips and overtime pay, working only five days a week according to French law, along with various benefits.
Those with massage and spa skills who want to take a national labour skill standard test should contact the Department of Skill Develpment, Karam said, adding for more information they should call the hotline 1506 and press 4.
