THE METEOROLOGICAL Department issued a warning for the public not to believe fake news going viral online that Thailand is about to be hit by a tropical storm named “Hoy Mee”, Thai Rath newspaper said this evening (May 12).
The weather bureau underscored that Thailand is not being hit by this tropical storm during May 9-13, and that no storm is heading for the country till tomorrow.
A warning about this fake news has also been posted on the Anti-Fake News Centre of Thailand web page.
The weather bureau added that during the next few days Thailand will only be hit by summer storms, some accompanied with thunder and strong winds and hail in a few areas.
The public is urged not to forward this fake news and only follow news issued by the Thai Meteorological Department.
