Indian tourist found dead in the sea off Koh Samet

AN Indian man who has been missing for three days while holidaying at Koh Samet was found dead in the sea off this tourist island seemingly strangled with a black garbage bag, Naewna newspaper said late last night (May 17).

Pol. Lt. Col. Kwanchai Mankanisorn, an investigation officer at Phe police station, Rayong province, was notified by a fisherman that he had spotted the tourist’s dead body with a black garbage bag around his neck indicating he had been strangled.

Rescue workers from Sawang Pornkuson Foundation were sent to bring his body to Ban Phe pier for police investigators to check then send to Rayong Hospital for an autopsy.

The deceased had been staying at a resort on this island with the owner having notified police he had been missing for three days. His passport identified him as Mr. Kramman, 49, from Andhra Pradesh.

The fisherman told rescuers that when he saw the body at Ao Wong Duean, off Koh Samet, aside from the black garbage bag wrapped around his neck there was also a black shoulder bag with him.

There were no wounds on him whatsoever but it is still not certain he had been strangled as the black garbage bag could have floated and got stuck on him. Police are awaiting the result of the autopsy.

The Indian embassy will be contacted to inform his family.
