AMID the ongoing tension at the Thai-Cambodian border 2nd Army Commander Lt. Gen. Boonsin Phadklang today (June 7) signed an order restricting use of four border crossings and closing some or all of them if Cambodia reinforces troops along the border and a clash breaks out, Amarin TV and TV Channel 7 said.
Under the order signed at 7 p.m. today Suranee Task Force Commander was given the following powers and duties:
+ The task force has the authority to close all types of border crossings along the Thai-Cambodian border, prohibit people and vehicles from entering and leaving as well as prohibit import and export of goods and weapons except for border trade or other economic activities or humanitarian assistance from 7 p.m. today;
+ Control the opening hours of all border crossings;
+ Close some border crossings for security reasons such as pressuring an invading party or protect people;
+ In the event of a clash has the authority to close border crossings immediately and reopen them when the situation returns to normal;
+ Opening hours of the following border crossings have been adjusted as of 7 p.m. onwards today as follows:
[] Anma Pass, Ubon Ratchathani province, open on Thursdays from 9 a.m. till noon:
– People may shop and trade only within the markets of the two countries after exchanging their border passes;
– Trade only necessary consumer goods;
– Vehicles not allowed to pass;
– Humanitarian assistance given in accordance with international regulations and principles.
[] Saeng Taku Channel, Ubon Ratchathani province, open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from from 9 a.m. till noon:
– People may shop and trade only within the markets of the two countries after exchanging their border passes;
– Trade only necessary consumer goods;
– Vehicles not allowed to pass;
– Humanitarian assistance given in accordance with international regulations and principles.
[] Sangam Channel, Sisaket province, open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.:
– People can enter and exit using passports and border passes;
– Export of weapons restricted according to the law;
– Export of construction goods such as cement halted;
– Vehicles can pass through according to the regulations;
– Humanitarian assistance given in accordance with international regulations and principles.
[] Chong Chom, Surin province, open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
– People can enter and exit using passports and border passes;
– Export of weapons restricted according to the law;
– Export of construction goods such as cement halted;
– Vehicles can pass through according to the regulations;
– Humanitarian assistance given in accordance with international regulations and principles.
