Thai-Cambodian meeting ends in an hour, ceasefire agreement signed

 

THAI and Cambodian defence ministers attending the last day of the General Border Committee (GBC) negotiations being held in Malaysia with observers from US, China and Malaysia participating ended their meeting in just one hour with the two neighbouring countries signing a 13-point ceasefire agreement, MNG Online said this afternoon (Aug. 7).

Thai Acting Defence Minister Gen.Nattapon Nakpanich led the Thai delegation while the Cambodian delegation was headed by Deputy Prime Minister-cum-Defence Minister Gen. Tea Seriha with the two of them shaking hands after signing the agreement.

Thailand’s primary objective is ensuring the safety of Thai people and property by bringing Cambodia to the negotiating table.

The 13-point agreement was worked out by the delegations of the two countries over the past three days from Monday August 4.

The meeting aims to resolve border tensions, leading to peace and peaceful coexistence among the peoples of both countries.
