Slanging match between Thai, Cambodian soldiers but no clash

AN ANGRY exchange took place between some Thai and Cambodian soldiers after the latter raised a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) launcher as they accusing the former of moving too close to the border at Prasat Khana ancient site in Kap Choeng district, Surin province, but the problem was resolved without a clash, PPTVHD36 said this evening (Nov. 16).

A Facebook paged named “Thai Burma Railway, Death Railway” shared a video clip of the heated exchange with a Khmer soldier holding up an RPG launcher and pointing it at Thai soldiers.

This prompted a Thai solider to negotiate to stop Khmer troops from approaching the Thai unit and that both sides remain where they were.

Initially Khmer soldiers spoke in their language but one of them later radioed a Thai-speaking soldier to negotiate and ultimately both sides agreed to not move further forward.

Although this incident was resolved without a clash erupting a Cambodian video has surfaced and shared at the Surin Community Facebook page wherein Khmer soldiers could be heard saying, “What’s up, Siem kids? We’re ready now, just waiting for orders. Hearing this, I’m not scared, I’m happy.”

Meanwhile Cambodia postponed a meeting on placing temporary boundary markers from number 42 to 47 in Ban Nong Ya Kaeo and Ban Nong Chan, Khok Sung district, Sa Kaeo province from tomorrow to the day after (Nov. 18) due to delay in submitting IT papers.

Both sides will be comparing data on the temporary boundary markers at this meeting with the demarcation process to start the following day.

When asked if this postponement had any implications, Thai security officials said they did not suspect significant implications, just that Cambodia simply failed to submit its IT papers on time.
