FIGHTING continued at the Thai-Cambodian border this morning (Dec. 13) after Thai Caretaker Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul sent a message to US President Donald Trump via a Facebook post countering his statement that the roadside bomb that originally killed and wounded numerous Thai soldiers was an accident pointing out that it was not merely an accident and Thai soldiers will not stop firing,
Trump’s posting on his Truth Social page is as follows:
“I had a very good conversation this morning with the Prime Minister of Thailand, Anutin Charnvirakul, and the Prime Minister of Cambodia, Hun Manet, concerning the very unfortunate reawakening of their long-running War. They have agreed to CEASE all shooting effective this evening, and go back to the original Peace Accord made with me, and them, with the help of the Great Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim. The roadside bomb that originally killed and wounded numerous Thai Soldiers was an accident, but Thailand nevertheless retaliated very strongly. Both Countries are ready for PEACE and continued Trade with the United States of America. It is my Honor to work with Anutin and Hun in resolving what could have evolved into a major War between two otherwise wonderful and prosperous Countries! I would also like to thank the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim, for his assistance in this very important matter.”
Anutin’s post at 9.30 a.m. this morning is as follows:
“It’s definitely not a roadside accident. Thailand will continue to perform military actions until we feel no more harm and threats to our land and people. I want to make it clear. Our actions this morning already spoke.”
The Thai air force released photos of two F-16 fighter jets bombing a casino-cum-military base in Thma Da area, Veal Veng district, Pursat province, at 5.52 a.m. this morning.
Meanwhile Capt. Nara Khunthodhom, assistant spokesperson of the Thai navy, said the navy had attacked and destroyed an area at Koh Yor in Koh Kong province that housed two 130mm gun bases as this posed a threat to Thai naval forces in the area.
Additionally Col. Richa Suksuwanon, deputy spokesperson of the Thai army, said at a press briefing at the Joint Thai-Cambodian Border Situation Centre that earlier today, Thai troops had completely seized the area around Prasat Khana ancient site in Kab Choeng district, Surin province.
At 8.30 a.m. Cambodian troops fired BM-21 rockets at a residential area in Kantaralak district, Sisaket province, injuring several Thai villagers and destroying two houses.
The headman of a village in Saothongchai subdistrict said villagers had been injured by Khmer gunfire and shrapnel and field ambulances rushed to the scene to urgently transport them for medical treatment.
