Renegade Klatham removed from opposition bloc

By Thai Newsroom Reporters

THE KLATHAM led by former agriculture and cooperatives minister Thammanat Prompao is being removed from the People’s-led opposition bloc primarily due to an unpredictable stance which the maverick piece of work has ironically adopted in support of the Bhumjaithai-led government with his ever-renegade camp looking all smiles.

People’s MP/chief opposition whip Parit Wacharasindhu confirmed today (Sep.22) the Klatham is being formally cut off from the opposition bloc tomorrow (Sep.23) after they had rebelliously cast a yea vote for the Bhumjaithai-led government’s legislation on the 2027 budget.

Thammanat’s camp is largely speculated to be brought onto the Bhumjaithai bandwagon of government at any given time from now after a few persons personally close to him had twisted around their statements earlier given during investigation to a subcommittee of the Election Commission which had purportedly prompted a majority of the commissioners to exonerate eminent Bhumjaithai elements suspected of involvement in the 2024 senatorial rigging conspiracy ranging from Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and de facto party boss Newin Chidchob to members of cabinet, lawmakers and others from prosecution in the Supreme Court.

Those who had gone back on their word to help out Anutin, Newin and other Bhumjaithai suspects included Thammanat’s father-in-law/Senator Khajornsak Sriwirat and ex-Bhumjaithai MP Ekarat Changlao.

Klatham spokesperson Attakorn Sirilatthayakorn said today (Sep.22) his party would almost certainly have no trouble being removed from the People’s-led opposition bloc at parliament amidst speculation that they would sooner than later become a coalition partner of the Bhumjaithai-led government.

The Newin-navigated government would have 58 more MPs from Thammanat’s camp to add to the coalition currently consisting of 192 Bhumjaithai MPs, 74 Pheu Thai MPs, surreptitiously directed by de facto party boss/former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, plus dozens of others from splinter parties, all making a 349 MPs-strong government among a total of 500 elected lawmakers.
