CAMBODIAN media claimed that the Asean Observer Team (AOT) heard explosions on the Thai side of the border while visiting the ceasefire area today (Nov. 19) and quickly withdrew, Amarin TV said.
The Cambodian Defence Ministry claimed that the Asean observers were inspecting the ceasefire at Checkpoint CH1 in Thmor Da commune, Veal Veng district, Pursat province, when sound of weapon explosions on the Thai side was heard at 11.08 a.m., Fresh News said.
They then decided to suspend their inspection of the area and withdrew.
Meanwhile Thai officials said a Khmer survey team arrived this morning to join their Thai counterparts in launching a drone survey and taking aerial photographs of Ban Nong Chan-Ban Nong Ya Kaew area, Sa Kaeo province, where temporary boundary markers are to be installed.
This is aimed at resolving the dispute at Boundary Marker 42 in Ban Nong Ya Kaew.
