SOME of the parts of an explosive device that went off while being assembled at a Yala house last night (Feb. 2) and injured one suspect have been found to be linked to insurgents, TV Channel 7 said this morning.
The Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) Region 4 Forward Command said the accidental blast while the bomb was being assembled seriously injuring the assembler occurred at approximately 7.50 p.m. within a house in Moo 1, Ban Yala, Yala subdistrict, Mueang district.
The badly injured suspect was taken to Central Hospital for urgent treatment.
Security forces including police, military and related agencies who secured the area and inspected the scene of the explosion meticulously collected evidence.
Initial findings indicate that some explosive parts and equipment are linked to an insurgent group. Forensic examination is currently under way to determine the true cause of the blast.
Officials also found drops of blood believed to belong to those involved in assembling this bomb leading to Ban Pajo, Village No. 3, Yala subdistrict, Mueang district, with further investigation underway.
ISOC Region 4 Forward Command and security agencies in the southern border provinces confirmed that they will conduct a thorough, transparent and fair investigation, integrating the work of all sectors to maintain peace and order and ensure the safety of life and property.
Those who see any suspicious individuals or objects were urged to either inform local officials, the task force in their area or ISOC Region 4 Forward Command hotline at 1341.
