AS strong winds and waves pounded Pattaya today (Sep. 26) a tour boat ran aground off Jomtien beach with beach chair rentals suspended for safety, Naewna newspaper said.
Unstable weather conditions persisting since last evening brought continuous gusts of howling winds to Jomtien beach while powerful waves crashed on the shore with this impacting local tourism and business operations.
Attracting a lot of attention from both tourists and locals was a large tour boat that ran aground near the shoreline in rough conditions sustaining damage to its hull and various parts. Many tourists stopped to take photos of the damaged vessel. Additionally, the waves have washed up significant amounts of marine debris and waste onto the Jomtien beach.
Meanwhile, with gusty winds and periodic high waves continuing, many beach chair rental operators decided to temporarily suspend their service for safety reasons. Authorities are urging the public, tourists, and tour boat operators to be cautious and refrain from engaging in marine activities until weather conditions return to normal.
