Suspect held in bombing of petrol pump restroom  

 

A THAI army and police team today (Feb. 11) arrested a suspect in the bombing of a restroom at a PTT petrol pump in Si Sakhon district, Narathiwat province, last evening that led to three people being injured, Naewna newspaper said.

Based on photographs and a surveillance camera clip as well as tips from concerned citizens, the army and police team apprehended Mr. Irfan (surname withheld), a resident of this far south province. A search of his residence yielded two .22 caliber homemade firearms, one homemade air gun, one large firecracker, along with clothing, a sarong, and a FILA brand shoulder bag matching those seen in the CCTV footage. A motorcycle matching the CCTV footage was also found in the surrounding area.

The suspect was taken to the Si Sakhon police station for legal proceedings then sent for interrogation at the 46th Ranger Regiment Task Force. 

The explosive device that went off at 6 p.m. had been placed in a trash can of this petrol pump’s restroom with three persons suffering tinnitus – ringing in their ears, namely Ms. Ruslisa Salaemae, Ms. Sarida Samae and Ms. Yasmi Manaree.
